Biography
Elric’s innocent origins in the wheat-gold expanse of Goldenfields were incinerated in a night of blood, orchestrated by his stepbrother Lazarus. Plucked from that carnage by his uncle Ikarin, he was dragged into the subterranean dark of Undermountain, where the dormant, volatile magic within him was forced awake. No longer a simple farmhand, he became a survivor forged in shadow, carrying the weight of a legacy he never asked for and a power that threatens to consume him as readily as it serves him.
His recent path has been paved with perilous bargains and devastating consequences. After negotiating with the drow matron Malice to secure the freedom of Kate and Lyra, Elric returned to Waterdeep only to face the suffocating pressure of rival Progenitors Pyre and Nirek. Their psychic battle of wills proved that his soul is a prize sought by entities far older and hungrier than himself. The surface offered no sanctuary; Solarin’s trap unleashed a sealed primal fire elemental, and in the ensuing inferno, sixty-four innocents burned—a massacre that stains Elric’s conscience, a brutal reminder that his wars often exact a catastrophic collateral price.
Death has walked closely beside him, claiming his companion Bean, only for the erratic magic of the realms to twist fate. Though she was reborn as a Sheed of the Wild Court, the trauma fractured her essence, splitting her into a volatile duality of Fire and Ice. Amidst this chaos, the Seven Wands ambushed Elric at the Watchtower, a confrontation that would have ended him had Ikarin not intervened once more, dragging Elric back into the relative safety of Undermountain’s gloom to meet Lycus and begin a grueling two-week regimen of mastery.
Now, the board has shifted to the arcane city of Basque. Granted citizenship and a sprawling townhouse by Corell, Elric has established a foothold of nobility, yet the shadows lengthen. A harrowing vision of Bones, enslaved by the sadistic Earl of Scripps, delivered a chilling directive: Find the Legacy Set. With Bean’s fractured soul reflecting the turmoil within his own, Elric stands at a precipice, trained by Lycus but haunted by the chains binding his friends, forced to hunt for ancient artifacts while the blood of Waterdeep still dries on his hands.
Appearance & Personality
At seventeen, Elric possesses an ethereal, almost porcelain fragility that belies the magical fortitude humming within his marrow. His pale skin is mapped with faint, silvery lattice-scars—harrowing remnants of the captivity where his very structure was harvested—which now pulse with a soft, rhythmic luminescence when he channels his Progenitor bloodline. He carries himself with a quiet, careful grace, leaning slightly on a gnarled Darkwood Staff that seems too ancient for his youthful grip, its deep obsidian grain contrasting sharply with his flaxen hair and eyes the color of twilight mist. Despite the finery of his cleric vestments prepared for the Ascension, there is a haunted hollow to his cheeks, a lingering testament to a childhood spent in shadows before the light of rescue found him.
Elric’s demeanor is a tapestry woven from trauma and gentle defiance; he moves through the world as if afraid to break it, or perhaps, afraid that he might shatter again himself. Under Ilara’s five years of tutelage, he has transmuted his victimhood into a profound, empathetic resolve, wielding his Temporal Mending not merely to knit flesh, but to fundamentally undo the moments of pain that inflict it. As the godson of Asmalon, he bears the weight of a heavy destiny with a solemn maturity far beyond his years, yet beneath his disciplined exterior flutters the anxious heart of a boy approaching manhood. Returning to Goldenfields for his Ascension stirs a tempest within him—a clash between the terror of his past and the hopeful, golden promise of the future he has fought so hard to reclaim.

Campaign Chronicle
Session 1: Wayward Son
After five years away, Elric returned to Goldenfields with Ilara. She taught him the Cantrip Mastery feat and revealed his traumatic past—being farmed for his bones as a child. He reunited with Asmalon, who gifted him an Angel’s Tear and offered to stand as his patron for the Ascension.
Elric joined The Garrison and was assigned to a patrol with Jonas Crane, Tom, and Ruby. During a goblin ambush in the woods, he proved his combat prowess—killing a goblin with his Darkwood Staff and saving Ruby from poisoned arrow with Temporal Mending.
The session ended with the squad retreating from goblin reinforcements, Elric and Tom holding the line.
Session 2: Feigned Choices
The goblin fight concluded when Greyback (Fey-touched) Goblins intervened—Elric realized they were the victims, not aggressors. He healed Princess Gish Frogtalker and escorted her to Asmalon, who revealed a prior alliance. Gish named him “Champion of Goblins” and gifted him the powerful Amulet of the Champion of Goblins.
While preparing for Graveyard Duty, Elric was ambushed by an assassin who kicked him through a magical portal into an underground tomb. Despite facing a CR 12-13 opponent, Elric defeated the assassin, looting powerful magical gear. He learned someone has placed a price on his head. He is now trapped underground, separated from his party.
Session 3: Awakening
Trapped in a void cave, Elric scavenged powerful magical artifacts before being ambushed by Firefly, a mercenary working for Lazarus. Ikarin—Elric’s uncle—intervened with devastating lightning, revealing himself as a Progenitor guardian.
Returning to the surface, Elric found Goldenfields in ruins. Lazarus revealed himself via hologram as Elric’s stepbrother, mocking him and announcing he had kidnapped Asmalon. Ikarin spirited Elric to Undermountain, where he underwent the Awakening ritual—boosting all base stats to 20+ (Wisdom 28), unlocking Royal/Magical bloodlines, and gaining Ring Lord/Ring Master feats.
Ikarin assigned Elric a mission: hunt Lazarus’s lieutenants and rescue Asmalon. After raiding the treasury, Elric stepped through a portal onto the streets of Waterdeep, leaving his old life behind.
Session 4: New Beginnings
In Waterdeep, Elric saved Chris Evergreen from bullies led by Patrick Allen Pricefield, who challenged him to a duel. He befriended Douglas “Dougie” Rightguard and visited the churches of Maestra and Helm.
At sunset, Elric met Titania, the Summer Queen, who revealed his royal heritage: his mother was a Queen who left him the Mythic Mithril Bracelet, and he has a twin brother who holds the Shadow Steel gauntlet. Titania became his godmother, and Bean joined him as a fairy companion.
The next morning, Elric defeated Patrick and his Terracotta Warrior, destroying a demon stone that had corrupted Patrick and freeing him. Learning that Chris was being burned at the stake in Overcliff, Elric took flight immediately.
Session 5: Into the Depths
Elric rescued Chris from execution and debated a religious charlatan, impressing a noble emissary who invited them to her carriage. This was a trap—she delivered them to House Neshbarath Tower in Skullport.
When Elric revealed his lineage as “Heir of Varrakis,” Countess Malice captured him, fitting him with a power-dampening collar and caging him in her chambers. While his body remained trapped, Elric projected his consciousness to the Ninth Layer of Hell.
There, Alzer guided him to Dagny Cole (Bones), an imprisoned Progenitor and friend of his father Varrakis. Due to time dilation (1 minute = 1 day), Elric spent three years training. He learned:
- Progenitor martial arts and new feats
- Time Knife cantrip
- Sealing Magic (forbidden)
- The history of Varrakis and Lazarus’s true danger as a “Mirror Mage”
The session ended with Elric waking in his caged body, still imprisoned.
Session 6: Father’s Legacy
Bones revealed Lazarus’s tragic backstory and vendetta against Varrakis’s legacy. After swearing an oath to Malice, Elric’s collar was removed. Chris attempted a rescue but was captured by Malice’s daughters; she slipped Elric her Septorial Ring before being taken.
Elric was transferred to Basque, City of Vampires. Mr. Black intercepted the exchange, causing a diplomatic incident. Elric met the Vampire King, who knew Varrakis and gifted him the Spine of the King (Mythic weapon). He was assigned to clear The Nexus.
In The Nexus, Elric found Progenitor Ruins and encountered Soraka, a Serpent Progenitor — triggering “Ancestral Enemy” rage. After a brutal mythic battle, Elric killed Soraka, looting her equipment but suffering -25 HP permanent and arm withering from her dying curse.
Session ended: Alone in the ruins, wounded but victorious. Session ended: Alone in the ruins, wounded but victorious.
Session 7: Ruins of the Future and Past
Awakening in the ruins, Elric activated a hidden entrance by declaring “Son of Varrakis Baratheon.” He interfaced with Ion, the sentient Mythal controlling Project Limbo — a maximum-security prison beneath a magma chamber. The facility was in critical condition due to a containment breach.
Ikarin arrived to stabilize the facility. Elric encountered Aeon Guard soldiers (from 2030) stealing a Shard of Ion, but was overpowered. Epion, a failed Shadow Monarch (former friend of Ikarin), escaped stasis — Elric tried to fight but was easily thrown. Ikarin defeated and re-imprisoned Epion.
To retrieve the shard, Ikarin trained Elric for 3 days (gaining Improved Combat Martial Arts and Improved Martial Defense) and equipped him with futuristic gear: Aeon Guard Armor, Plasma Saber, Particle Rifle, and more.
Session ended: About to jump through temporal portal to Earth, 2030.
Session 8: Backlash (FINAL)
Elric infiltrated the secret 2030 research facility disguised as a soldier. He met Dr. Patricia Scott, lead R&D scientist, who showed him her life’s work: the Captive Star Amulet — a CR 17 artifact containing a compressed pulsar.
When Emotivores attacked the facility, Dr. Scott was mortally wounded by the Shadow Dancer. With her dying breath, she gave Elric the amulet and sacrificed herself to cover his escape. Elric decimated enemies with particle rifle and grenades, escaping through a portal as the facility detonated.
Back in Undermountain, Elric chose to use the amulet to power the facility’s reactor rather than keeping it. Impressed by this wisdom, Ikarin taught him Progenitor Glyph Magic, granting administrative access to the facility’s systems.
MAJOR LORE: Waterdeep is an ancient Progenitor capital with failing magical seals. Emotivores are the future descendants of the Shade.
Session ended: Returning to Waterdeep surface to check on Bean — has been missing for 1 week (time dilation).
Session 9: Little Friends
Elric leveled to 11, gaining Physical Perfection (+3 Str/Dex/Con) and Improved Critical (Unarmed). Seeking Bean, he tracked leads through Wazell’s Emporium to Warehouse 19, where Duke and Mitch revealed Kate and Lyra had gone to the Slaughterhouse.
Elric raided the Slaughterhouse, destroying a Soulbound Shell draining fey magic and rescuing Bean. The Seven Wands of Waterdeep — Patrick, Portia, Naomi — helped disperse volatile magical energy.
Following Bean’s guidance, Elric traveled to Skullport via the Shadow Market. There, Matron Malice presented him with the brainwashed Kate and Lyra as “gifts.”
Session ended: Alone in Malice’s chambers with brainwashed Kate and Lyra attempting to seduce him.
Session 10: The Gathering
Elric successfully negotiated Kate and Lyra’s release from Matron Malice. Returning to Waterdeep, he was intercepted by rival Progenitors Pyre and Nirek in a Battle of Wills — a Progenitor dominance display testing mental strength. Phobos and Naya intervened, and Ikaran ended the confrontation with a warning thunderbolt.
Lured by Solarin into a fire trap, Elric discovered a fake Bean being used to spawn a Primal Fire Elemental. He sealed the elemental at great cost — suffering severe burns and causing 64 civilian deaths (12 children). The real Bean died in the elemental fire but was reborn as a Sheed — a Wild Court fey with phoenix wings and natural Charisma 29. The Seven Wands of Waterdeep recognized the implications: a potential Wild Hunt.
Ikaran rescued Elric from the Wands’ interrogation at the Watchtower and teleported him to Undermountain to meet Lycus, a mysterious Progenitor hunter who will train him for 2 weeks. Elric then traveled to Basque to deliver the Mythic Trident to Corell, receiving Basque citizenship, a 4-story townhouse, and information on the Legacy Set — six artifacts from legendary dark casters including his father Varrakis.
While in Basque, Elric spotted Bones enslaved alongside the Earl of Scripps, a high-ranking Pit Fiend. Bones covertly left a message: “Find the legacy set.” Returning to Waterdeep, Elric discovered Bean had split into a Fire aspect (Spirit of Waterdeep) and Ice aspect (Spirit of Skullport) who immediately began fighting.
Session ended: Witnessing Bean’s duality conflict, training with Lycus ahead.
Session 11: Breach and the Arrogance of Man
Returning from training, Elric faced an unexpected political crisis: two Fey representatives both demanded his hand in marriage. Ikaran interrupted to reveal Elric is awakening as the Spirit of the City—chosen to be Waterdeep’s Guardian King and Administrator. This destiny requires marrying into the Fey alliance.
More troublingly, Ikaran ordered Elric to assassinate Phobos, a rival Progenitor in Baldur’s Gate. While Progenitor law prohibits pure-bloods from killing each other, Elric’s half-breed status creates a loophole. Elric agreed reluctantly: “I’ll do this, but don’t ever ask me to do anything again.”
Meditating to contact Bones in Hell, Elric learned that Phobos’s associate Dorian_Gray is a death-cursed Lich who cannot be permanently killed. Bones also revealed Ikaran was sending Elric away to protect him from an imminent assault on Undermountain.
Refusing to be sidelined, Elric confronted his uncle and demanded to stay. Ikaran relented, granting Elric an Administrative_Uplink_Stone that creates a neural interface with Undermountain’s defense systems. Elric met Enoch the Wanderer—a mentally-sealed Progenitor with a flaming jack-o’-lantern head, destined to become the Witch King before Varrakis restructured his mind.
At the Outer Gate, Destro (The Iron Mage) arrived with an army of constructs, offering a trade: information and weapons for a Nagloshi sarcophagus. When Elric refused, battle ensued. Elric destroyed Destro’s construct body—losing both legs to scorching rays before regenerating—but Destro’s soul escaped. He left an invitation: tea at Café Lorraine in Baldur’s Gate in three days.
Victory was short-lived. Explosions rocked the mountain as mercenaries blew through from another entrance, stealing three Nagloshi sarcophagi. A fourth cracked open, releasing a chaotic evil Nagloshi who greeted Elric with, “Hello, old cousin.”
