Geography & Atmosphere

Nestled within a quieter district of the city, Elric’s residence is a sanctuary of morning light, built of pale, white-washed stone that seems to drink in the dawn. The structure is modest compared to the great granaries but possesses a quiet, resonant power, with high arched windows oriented perfectly to catch the first breaking rays of Lathander’s sun. The air here is noticeably cooler and cleaner, perfumed by the meticulously kept gardens that surround the nave—beds of sun-daisies, lavender, and morning glories that seem to vibrate with the hum of bees and the soft murmur of prayer. It is a place of respite, where the bustle of the harvest city is muffled by thick stone and living greenery.

Inside, the atmosphere is heavy with the scent of beeswax candles and old parchment. Dust motes dance in solid beams of light that cut through the incense smoke, illuminating the simple altar and the polished wooden pews. There is a profound stillness here, a “waiting” quality that contrasts with the urgency of Elric’s life as a soldier. The garden courtyard, with its small, gurgling fountain, offers a sensory counterpoint to the stone interior—the sound of water on stone providing a constant, meditative rhythm. It feels like a space carved out of time, a fragile bubble of peace that serves as the eye of the storm for the young Lightborn.
