Dagny Cole, known only as “Bones” in the freezing depths of the Ninth Layer of Hell, is a Progenitor of unyielding iron will and a ghost from a forgotten age. Once a confidant of Varrakis, she became the anchor for his son, Elric, when his consciousness was cast adrift into the inferno while his body languished in Malice’s cage. For three agonizing years of Hell-time—a mere flicker of minutes in the material realm—she served as his tormentor and teacher, forging his spirit in the fires of damnation. She imparted the shattered forms of Progenitor martial arts and the forbidden rites of Sealing Magic, burdening him with the terrifying history of the threat posed by Lazarus, ensuring the legacy of the lightborn would not be extinguished in the dark.
Yet, even the strongest iron can be bound. Elric recently discovered his mentor not ruling a domain of the damned, but dragged into the sun-scorched streets of Basque, enslaved by a suppression collar alongside the fallen Earl of Scripps. Reduced to a gladiator or servant in the cruel theater of the material plane, she remains unbroken beneath the yoke. In a fleeting moment of contact, she cast a desperate lifeline to her former pupil, whispering a covert command to “find the legacy set.” It is a plea that binds her fate to his once more, for her own Work Gloves—artifacts of immense power currently held by Corell—are a key to that very puzzle, and perhaps, to her liberation.
Appearance & Personality
Years of imprisonment in the frozen wastes of the Ninth Layer have stripped Dagny Cole down to the raw essentials of survival. She is a woman of wiry, corded muscle, her skin pale and mapped with a constellation of scars that tell the story of a thousand failed escape attempts and brutal sparring matches. She wears tattered remnants of monk’s wrappings, reinforced with scavenged leather and bone—perhaps the source of her moniker—giving her a skeletal, grim reaper silhouette against the stark infernal landscape. Her eyes are dark and burning with an unyielding intensity, set deep in a face hardened by eons of subjective time.
