Biography
Ikarin stands as a titan of the ancient blood, the storm-wreathed brother of Varrakis and eternal warden of the Negloshi prison festering beneath Waterdeep. Long has he watched from the shadows, but when the mercenary Firefly threatened his nephew Elric, Ikarin shattered the veil, manifesting from an Echo to obliterate the threat in a cataclysm of blue-white lightning. This intervention marked the beginning of Elric’s true ascent; within the sanctuary of the Progenitors, Ikarin presided over the Awakening ritual, breaking the seals on Elric’s dormant heritage. He is not merely an uncle but a sentinel of the old ways, guiding Elric through the metaphysical tempest—from the fevered dreams of infernal training grounds to the stabilization of Project Limbo, where he effortlessly dismantled the threat of Epion and honed Elric’s martial prowess with a master’s brutal grace.
As the shadow war escalated, Ikarin’s stewardship transcended the physical realm, extracting Elric from the dystopian grasp of a timeline gone wrong to instruct him in the arcane intricacies of Progenitor Glyph Magic and the secret seals binding Waterdeep. His authority commands absolute deference even among the city’s mystical elite; when the Seven Wands sought to corner Elric at the Watchtower, Ikarin’s mere arrival forced Patrick Wand to bow his head and address him as “Master,” silencing the interrogation with a single look. Though he has since entrusted Elric’s physical refinement to Lycus, Ikarin remains the eye of the storm—a looming, electrified presence ensuring his nephew is forged into a weapon capable of bearing the crushing weight of their immortal legacy.
Appearance & Personality
Ikarin stands as a monument to ancient, restrained power, a figure who seems carved from the very mountain he guards. He appears as a weathered warrior in his later years, his skin etched with lines that glow faintly with suppressed voltage, resembling the jagged path of lightning strikes frozen in flesh. He wears heavy, utilitarian armor that looks less forged and more fused together by intense heat, draped in a heavy cloak that smells of ozone and impending storms. His eyes are solid white orbs of crackling electric potential, and when he moves, the air around him hums with static, causing hair to stand on end and metal to spark. He often carries himself with the immense, heavy gravity of a storm cloud just before it breaks.
As the jailer of the Negloshi and a surviving Progenitor, Ikarin exudes a weary, stoic absolute authority. He is a man who has seen civilizations rise and fall and has little patience for the fleeting emotional struggles of mortals, yet he possesses a deep, protective undercurrent for his remaining kin. He is a mentor of the “tough love” variety, believing that pain is the only reliable teacher in a universe that wants to kill you. He speaks rarely, but his words strike with the finality of a thunderclap. There is a profound sadness buried beneath his lightning-wreathed exterior—the loneliness of an immortal watchman who has outlived his brothers and must now turn his own nephew into a weapon to survive the coming dark.

Campaign Chronicle
Session 3: Awakening
Ikarin saved Elric from Firefly by emerging from an “Echo” and devastating the mercenary’s forces with lightning. He then guided Elric to Undermountain, revealed the existence of the Negloshi prison, and oversaw Elric’s Awakening ritual. He assigned Elric the mission to hunt Lazarus’s lieutenants and rescue Asmalon.
Session 5: Into the Dark
Appeared in Elric’s dream to reveal the Ninth Layer of Hell training opportunity with Bones. Explained Varrakis’s legacy and Progenitor bloodlines.
Session 7: Ruins of Future and Past
Teleported to Project Limbo when Elric prayed for help. Stabilized the failing facility. Defeated Epion (his former friend, the failed Shadow Monarch) and re-imprisoned him. Trained Elric for 3 days in advanced Progenitor martial arts, teaching Improved Combat Martial Arts and Improved Martial Defense. Equipped Elric with Aeon Guard technology and sent him through temporal portal to 2030.
Session 8: Backlash
Extracted Elric from 2030 through portal. Impressed by Elric’s choice to donate Captive Star Amulet to power Undermountain instead of keeping it. Taught Elric Progenitor Glyph Magic and granted administrative access to facility systems. Revealed Waterdeep is ancient Progenitor capital with failing seals.
Session 10: The Gathering
Intervened when the Seven Wands of Waterdeep attempted to interrogate Elric at the Watchtower following the fire elemental incident. Burst through the doors, destroyed a table with a touch, and intimidated Patrick (who called him “Master”) into releasing Elric. Teleported Elric to Undermountain and introduced him to Lycus, a Progenitor hunter who will train him for 2 weeks.
Session 11: Breach and the Arrogance of Man
Revealed Elric is awakening as the Spirit of the City—destined to become Guardian King and Administrator of Waterdeep. Ordered Elric to assassinate Phobos, using his half-breed status as a loophole in Progenitor law. Confronted by Phobos (illusion) who taunted him about being “stretched too thin.” Initially tried to send Elric away for his protection, but relented when confronted. Granted Elric administrative access to Undermountain’s defenses. Assigned Elric to defend the Outer Gate while he defended the Inner Gate. When mercenaries breached the mountain and stole Nagloshi sarcophagi, he shouted “No, those fools!” as the breach occurred.
