Wild Hunt
Quick Reference
Category Fey Event / Apocalyptic Trigger Wild Court assembles King & Queen Relevance Bean’s transformation heralds it
Overview
The Wild Hunt is a force of nature—a cataclysmic fey event where the Wild Court sweeps across the world, leaving death in its wake. When the Wild Hunt is called, mortals have two choices: join the hunt or be hunted.
The Hunt is led by the Lord and Lady of the Hunt, who rise from the ranks of the Wild Court once a King and Queen are chosen. When the horn blows, the Hunt begins and will sweep the world until it stops—and no one knows when that will be.
Known Information
The Wild Court
The Wild Court is a fey faction distinct from the Summer and Winter Courts. Its members include:
- Sheeds — Powerful hybrid fey like Bean’s new form
- Grimalkins — Serial killer cats born from dying screams of children
- Redcaps — Bloodthirsty murder fey
- Leonan Sheed — Mythic predator fey
- Wild Hunt Scout — CR 12 ranger, first line of attack
- Wild Hunt Hounds — Humans transformed into hunting dogs
Hierarchy
The Court does not have an eternal King and Queen. Leadership rises from the ranks—whoever claims power becomes the Lord and Lady of the Hunt.
The Hunt’s Purpose
The Wild Hunt serves to:
- Restore balance to nature
- Emergency countermeasure against outsider incursions
- Cull corrupted mortals who open breaches for outsiders
Mysteries
- Who will become the King and Queen?
- Is Bean’s transformation part of the Court’s plan?
- Can the Hunt be stopped once started?
- How many millions will die?
Campaign Relevance
Bean’s transformation into a Sheed during Session 10 heralds the potential Wild Hunt. Patrick of the Seven Wands recognized her as “one of the Wild Court,” causing immediate alarm.
The presence of a Sheed in Waterdeep suggests the Wild Court is forming, which means the Hunt may soon be called.
