Biography

Jonas Crane grew up on the streets of Waterdeep, developing the survival instincts and street smarts that would later make him an effective scout and leader. He now leads a small adventurer trio alongside Tom and Ruby, taking contracts from The Garrison.

Appearance & Personality

Jonas Crane wears the streets of Waterdeep like a second skin. He is a man of sharp angles and efficient movement, possessing the lean, wiry build of someone who has had to climb, run, and fight for every meal. His gear is a patchwork of practicality—leather armor scuffed from use, weapons that are well-oiled but devoid of ornamentation, and a cloak that seems to naturally catch the shadows. He has a “card sharp’s face,” impossible to read and always slightly guarded, with eyes that constantly calculate the odds. There is a casual danger to him, a sense that he is always looking for the exit or the angle, yet he carries himself with the easy confidence of a leader who knows exactly how much trouble he can handle.

Pragmatism is Jonas’s religion. As the leader of his adventurer trio, he operates on a strict code of survival and profit, often serving as the grounding element for his more volatile companions. He is streetwise and cynical, the kind of man who checks for traps even in a tavern and assumes everyone has an agenda until proven otherwise. Despite his mercenary outlook and his reputation as a man you shouldn’t trust with a deck of cards, he possesses a surprising vein of loyalty to his crew. He manages the chaos of Tom and Ruby with the weary patience of an older brother, cleaning up their messes and ensuring they all live to spend their gold. He is a professional adventurer: brave when paid to be, cautious when it’s free, and always looking out for number one—and his team.
