Biography
Chester Puller was a retired Eldritch Knight from the Spellguard who commanded The Garrison in Goldenfields. Despite his retirement from active adventuring and the loss of a leg in battle, he remained a formidable warrior and tactician who guarded the realm’s breadbasket with paranoid diligence.
When Lazarus’s forces razed Goldenfields, Chester Puller’s fate became uncertain. As a Level 14 Eldritch Knight, he may have survived the attack, but his current whereabouts are unknown.
Appearance & Personality
Lieutenant Colonel Chester “Chess” Puller is a figure carved from rugged, weathered granite, a living monument to the Spellguard’s history of violence. He moves with a rhythmic thud-clack, his heavy gait announced by a prosthetic leg reinforced with dwarf-forged iron and runic script—a souvenir from the battle where he held the line against a void-touched dreadnought. His hair is a steel-grey bristle, and his face is a landscape of old scars, but his eyes remain dangerously sharp, scanning every room with the analytical precision of a spellcaster preparing a countermeasure. Despite his injury, he projects the dense, coiled gravity of a dormant siege engine, and when he enters a room, soldiers snap to attention not out of regulation, but out of a primal recognition of an apex predator.
“Chess” is a man who has replaced his soul with duty. Gruff and economical with words, he has no patience for bluster or pedigree, measuring a man solely by his capability when the fires are lit. He views his posting in Goldenfields not as retirement, but as a strategic necessity, guarding the realm’s breadbasket with the paranoid insight of a veteran who knows hunger destroys empires faster than steel. Beneath his hardened exterior lies a desperate, private curiosity about the divine; having seen the limits of arcane power, he watches Elric with the intense scrutiny of a man searching for a salvation that logic cannot provide. He is a protector who has seen too much darkness to ever truly relax, a soldier who believes his final battle is still waiting for him in the shadows.
